Collection Societies

What are collection societies?

These are the organisations responsible for the tracking, collection, and payment of earned royalties to copyright owners. This is a blanket term to refer to all organisations, individually they are also referred to as either performing rights organisations or collective management organisations.

Essentially: Collection societies handle a completely different set of rights than a distributor and can be very useful in earning additional royalties.

Do I need to be registered to a collection society to distribute my music with iMusician?

No, registration to a collection society is not a requirement to distribute your music through iMusician.

What is an IPI / CAE?

The IPI/ CAE number is an international identification number assigned to songwriters and publishers to uniquely identify rights holders. It means your artist name can always be traced to you legally.
